When the time came to breed Kahlua instead of using our amazing Dream
I decided to do an outcross breeding to Colonel instead (on loan to us)
because I wanted to keep a girl for the future of my program
(as breeders we always have to plan decades in advance).
However when the litter was born, and I saw how amazing the boys were,
Well I knew I had to also keep a boy.

I was fortunate enough to find Jim and Cheryl who were willing to foster him and raise
Him as their own, still providing me with Kona to use as a stud for my program.
Kona really gets the best of both worlds.
When they came up with the name "King Kona"
after a famous dark brown Hawaiian coffee bean
well, I loved it and so puppy was named "Kona" and it it definitely suits him.

Not many Poodles can RUN from the Conformation Ring to the Performance Ring
and have them do well in both. Well Kona is that type of dog. So much so
that all within 2 hours he not only did he win in the Show and Performance Ring
he also went on to complete 2 Temperament Testings to Title in 4 events !!
This boy is every ounce the performance Poodle, most people dream of owning.
I have to admit I did cheat a bit because his owners did all the training and all I had to do
was tweak a few things and work with him a few minutes before entering the ring.
Kona retired from the CKC ring with 4 points towards his Championship.
